Hidden Hamlet - Lagshal

ABOUT THE VILLAGE:
A hidden village engulfed by forests on all sides, Lagshal is a small hamlet of only 10 households spread across the mountains located within the Lagshal Valley. With views of the expansive Himalayas and the rolling vegetation, this place promises the peace and quiet that you certainly won’t find anywhere else.

PROPERTY OVERVIEW:

Lagshal Valley is located on the topmost vantage point of the village, and is surrounded by thick green pine forests. It is located at the edge and has a breathtaking view of the lush Deodar forest at a distance. Get to surround yourself with the solitude of the jungles and live closer to nature.
Himalayan Hue is a two-storey simple & pleasant home, overlooking a part of the Dhauladhar Range and a distant view of Dakashti village in the front below. It has a front porch opening up to a small garden space, gradually sloping into step-farmlands.

FOOD-

The women of the family of Lagshal Valley cook delicious Pahadi meals, and are great at telling stories about the culture and significance of their food. Bless your taste buds with the most delicious traditional Pahadi meals, prepared by Kuram Chand's son, Yashwant ji of Himalayan Hue. Explore the world of local cuisines over lunch and dinner conversations, and feel yourself gradually becoming a part of the family.

EXPERIENCES-

Treks and Trails
Short treks: Khokan Wildlife Sanctuary; this is a 4-5km trail (Kindly note: permission needs to be taken in advance from the Forest Department/Village Panchayat)
Long treks: Visit Narayan Devta and old Tunga Mata temple, this is approximately 19km trail and will take 9-11 hours. Relax at the waterfalls on the way- Chota Jamunala and Bada Jamunala and walk through the region’s most splendid forest trail! 

Explore forest trails or try organic farming
There are numerous trails that you could explore in and around the village. You can visit the villages closeby Nerash, Lower Lagshal, Shayri, Tihri and Rala and try to learn the various techniques of organic farming. Our local guides know what’s best and would be happy to give you a mini-course!

Experience village life to the fullest
You can start your day with a nice stroll around the village, take the cattle out to graze in the nearby forests or spend time with the village kids! You can also visit the schools and teach them a thing or two!

Visit the rustic old houses
The photographer in you is bound to come out when you chance upon the rustic, traditional houses in the village. These one-of-a-kind age-old houses will give you a glimpse of simple living and make you feel like you’ve gone back in time engulfed by mountains and forests!

Cook local meals and sing and dance to traditional Himachali music (Nati)
This is possibly the best time to learn and cook the local meals which are cooked over a chulha , while you also relish them! One popular dish is Siddu which is widely eaten and perhaps the most popular. If you get the chance to visit a fair or attend a marriage, you can try all of these dishes while dancing your way through the catchy tunes of Himachali music!

Stargaze
Clear skies enable you to catch beautiful star trails! If you’re into astronomy, then it’s just a bonus because you can spot constellations like you’ve never seen before. So just lie down, watch the stars and revel in the artistry of nature!
